#7 Hamilton College defeats Oswego St. 3-1

The seventh-ranked Hamilton College Continentals Women’s Hockey Team (11-3-1 overall, 4-3-1 NESCAC) won their fifth straight game with a 3-1 victory at Oswego St (8-7-1 overall, 6-3-1 SUNYAC). It also marked their eighth win in their past nine games.

The Lakers got the first goal of the game with Ashlyn McGrath’s power-play tally at the 9:27 mark of the first period. The Continentals answered three minutes later when Abby Weiss scored the first of her two goals in the game. The score would remain tied at one after twenty minutes of play.

The second was scoreless for nineteen minutes and fifty-nine seconds. With 0.4 seconds left on the clock, Hamilton’s Emily Ferguson got one by Oswego goaltender Lexi Levy to give the visitors a 2-1 lead going into the second intermission. Weiss picked up her second goal of the game with 5:36 remaining in the third period to seal her team’s 3-1 victory.

Mac Donovan made seventeen saves to pick up the win in goal for Hamilton. Levy stopped thirty-six shots in the net for the Lakers.

Next up for the Continentals is the Cortland Red Dragons, who will visit Russell Sage Rink on Tuesday, January 23. Oswego will remain at home for their next game, as they host the #10 Utica Pioneers on Friday night.
