#9 Utica Pioneers Women’s Hockey hits the road for two-game set

The Pioneers will face the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen on Friday night and Saturday afternoon at Lebanon Valley.

The ninth-ranked Utica Pioneers Women’s Hockey Team 2-0-0 overall, 0-0-0 UCHC) will play their first road and UCHC games of the season when they visit the historic Hersheypark Arena this weekend. They will face the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen (1-1-0 overall, 0-0-0 UCHC) on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

Utica is coming off a monumental weekend that saw them win the inaugural Utica University Kickoff Tournament. They defeated the Suffolk Rams and the then number six Adrian Bulldogs to win the trophy. They are now tied for ninth with Adrian in the latest USCHO poll.

The Flying Dutchmen are in the midst of a four-game homestand to open their 2023-24 season. They lost their opener last Friday to Morrisville 5-0 and then defeated Albertus Magnus 5-2 the next day. Like Utica, these weekend games will be Lebanon Valley’s first UCHC contests of the season.

Last season, the Pioneers and Flying Dutchmen met twice during the regular season. Those games were played at the Nexus Center and both were won by Utica 4-2 and 7-1. The teams met again at the Nexus Center in the UCHC Tournament Quarterfinals which Utica won 4-0.

Each team has two games under their belts for the 2023-24. Let’s take a look at the statistical leaders for the Utica Pioneers and Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen.

  • Penalty Kill: 75% (6 for 8).

  • Goals: Katie Pounder with 2.
  • Assists: Jess Dawe and Grace Mayer with 2 each.
  • Points: 4 are tied with 2 each.
  • Shots: Katie Pounder with 12.
  • Power Play Goals: N/A.
  • Goaltending: Jorja Fisher has a record of 1-0-0, with a GAA of 2.00, 30 saves, and a 0.938 save percentage. Mia Frisoni has a record of 0-1-0, with a GAA of 5.00, 44 saves, and a save percentage of 0.898.
