Central New York in the USCHO polls November 27, 2023

Central New York colleges and universities are represented in the latest USCHO polls.

The latest USCHO (United States College Hockey Online) polls came out on Monday, November 27, 2023. Six teams in our coverage area are represented between the Division I Women’s poll, Division III Men’s poll, and the Division III Women’s poll. For all of the USCHO rankings, visit

Division I Women

Colgate Raiders

  • Record: 13-2-1 overall, 8-0-0 ECAC.
  • This week’s ranking: #4.
  • Last week’s ranking: #2
  • Last week’s games: The Raiders had a tough weekend as they traveled to the State of Hockey to face the sixth-ranked Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs. On Friday night they were shut out by their hosts, 3-0. On Saturday they needed a late goal by Allyson Simpson to earn a 1-1 tie.
  • This week’s games: The Raiders face regional rival the Syracuse Orange on Tuesday night at the Tennity Ice Pavillion. It is Colgate’s last game before the end of semester break.

Division III Men

Utica Pioneers

  • Record: 6-1-3 overall, 5-0-1 UCHC.
  • This week’s ranking: #4. The Pioneers received three first-place votes in this week’s poll.
  • Last week’s ranking: #3.
  • Last week’s games: The Pioneers hosted their annual Utica Thanksgiving Showcase. In the semifinals on Friday night, they skated to a 1-1 draw with the Saint Johns Johnnies and advanced to the championship by winning the shootout. The next night, they lost the championship game to the red-hot Elmira Soaring Eagles. The Soaring Eagles entered the tournament unranked and are now ranked seventh in the USCHO poll.
  • This week’s games: The Pioneers host their annual Teddy Bear Toss game on Friday night December 1 against Division I Stonehill. It is the only game they will play this weekend.

Oswego St. Lakers

  • Record: 5-4-0 overall, 4-1-0 SUNYAC.
  • This week’s ranking: Unranked, but received 23 votes.
  • Last week’s ranking: #8.
  • Last week’s games: The Lakers participated in the Utica Thanksgiving Showcase and lost both games. On Friday afternoon they dropped a 7-1 decision to the now #7 Elmira Soaring Eagles. The next day, they lost to the Saint Johns Johnnies 4-2.
  • This week’s games: Oswego hits the road for a pair of SUNYAC games. On Friday night they square off with the Potsdam Bears. On Saturday, they travel to Plattsburgh to face the #1 Cardinals.

Hamilton College Continentals

  • Record: 4-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 NESCAC.
  • This week’s ranking: Unranked, but received 6 votes.
  • Last week’s ranking: Unranked.
  • Last week’s games: The Continentals won the North Country Tournament played at SUNY Canton. On Saturday, they defeated Potsdam 3-1. On Sunday afternoon, they took down #15 Trine 4-0 to win the championship.
  • This week’s games: Hamilton goes on the road for a pair of NESCAC games. On Friday night, they square off with the Trinity Bantams. On Saturday afternoon, they visit the Wesleyan Cardinals.

Division III Women

Hamilton College Continentals

  • Record: 2-2-0 overall, 0-2-0 NESCAC.
  • This week’s ranking: #6.
  • Last week’s ranking: #6.
  • Last week’s games: The Continentals picked up their first wins of the 2023-24 season, both on home ice. On Tuesday afternoon they defeated the Morrisville Mustangs 4-0. On Saturday they took down NESCAC rival Wesleyan 4-2.
  • This week’s games: The Continental’s homestand continues. On Friday and Saturday, they host fellow NESCAC member Trinity for a pair of games.

Utica Pioneers

  • Record: 7-0-2 overall, 4-0-2 UCHC.
  • This week’s ranking: #9.
  • Last week’s ranking: #10.
  • Last week: The Pioneers played only one game. On Tuesday night they hosted the Worcester St. Lancers and defeated the visitors 4-1.
  • This week’s games: Utica remains at home for a pair of games against UCHC rival Neumann. They host the Knights for games on Friday and Saturday.
