Colgate Raiders Women’s Hockey rolls to preseason win

The Colgate Raiders Women’s Hockey Team defeats ECAC rival St. Lawrence in preseason ice hockey action.

The Colgate Raiders enter the 2023-24 season ranked fourth in the nation in both the USCHO and USA Today polls. On Saturday they traveled to historic Appleton Arena and defeated host the St. Lawrence Saints 4-1 in the Raider’s only preseason game this season.

A look at the Colgate Raiders Women’s Hockey 2023-24 schedule

The Raiders got goals from Kaitlyn O’Donohoe, Tessa Holk, Neena Brick, and newcomer Emma Paas. Paas’s goal was shorthanded. Danielle Serdachny and Allyson Simpson led the Raiders in points with two assists each. Brick led the team in shots on goal with five.

The lone goal for the Saints came off of the stick of Kennedy Wilson. Julia Gosling led the Saints in shots on goal with five.

Colgate Raiders Women’s Hockey earns ECAC preseason honors

All three Colgate goaltenders saw game action as Hannah Murphy made four saves, Kayle Osborne stopped twenty-six shots, and Averill McCorkle turned aside five shots. Emma-Sofie Nordström made twenty-seven saves for St. Lawrence. The Saints outshot the Raiders 35-31. Colgate did not have any power-play opportunities while the Saints did not convert on any of their three chances.

Colgate has no other preseason games and opens its regular season at home on Friday night against the number two-ranked Ohio St. Buckeyes. St. Lawrence has one preseason game remaining against the University of Ottawa on Tuesday and open their regular season at home on Friday night against the Mercyhurst Lakers.
