Defenseman Santeri Hatakka recalled by the New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils have recalled defenseman Santeria Hatakka from the Utica Comets of the AHL the team announced on Thursday.

Hatakka was acquired by the Devils in last season’s blockbuster Timo Meier trade with the San Jose Sharks. He was drafted by San Jose in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

The twenty-three-year-old defenseman has nine games of NHL experience – all with the Sharks. In those games, he recorded no goals, two assists, two PIM, and was a -5.

Hatakka has played exclusively for the Utica Comets this season. In twenty-eight games played, he has two goals, seven assists, twenty-two PIM, and is a -4. In his AHL career, Hatakka has also played for the San Jose Barracuda. This is his first call up to the Devils.
