Hamilton College Men’s Hockey Wins North Country Tournament

The Hamilton College Continentals Men’s Hockey Team defeated Trine on Sunday afternoon to win the tournament for the second consecutive year.

The Hamilton College Continentals are off to an outstanding start to the 2023-24 season. They entered this weekend’s North Country Tournament at SUNY Canton with an undefeated record. After defeating #14 Trine on Sunday afternoon they remain undefeated at 4-0-0 and successfully defended their North Country Tournament crown.

A look at the Hamilton College Continentals Men’s Hockey schedule

The Continentals defeated the Potsdam Bears 3-1 on Saturday in the tournament semifinal. The game was tied at one after two periods, but Hamilton got goals from Max Bulwaka and Ben Zimmerman to seal the win (Jackson Krock scored the first Continentals goal). Zimmerman’s goal was shorthanded and came with 1:01 remaining in the game. Charlie Archer made twenty saves in goal to pick up the victory.

Sunday’s opponent was the fourteenth-ranked Trine Thunder. The Thunder entered the championship game with an overall record of 8-1-0, and on paper at least, were the toughest test for Hamilton so far this season. The teams met twice last season at Trine with the Thunder winning both games.

Hamilton got a measure of revenge for those defeats on Sunday as they shut out the Thunder 4-0. The Continentals got goals from Noah Leibl, Ryan Brown, Jackson Krock (his second of the weekend), and Luke Tchor, while Tchor (one goal and one assist) and Max Bulwaka (two assists) each had two points. Jack Grant made thirty-seven saves in net for the Continentals to earn the shutout victory.

Hamilton College remains on the road next weekend to face a pair of NESCAC rivals. On Friday, December 1 they travel to Trinity to take on the Bantams. On Saturday afternoon, they will be at Wesleyan to face the Cardinals.
