Morrisville Mustangs Women’s Hockey dominates King’s College

Morrisville built a 2-0 lead in the first period and never looked back en route to a 7-1 victory over King’s on Tuesday night.

The Morrisville Mustangs returned home to the Morrisville Ice Plex on Tuesday night after a weekend trip to New England and faced the King’s College Monarchs (2-8-0 overall) of the UCHC. After suffering a tough loss to Colby on Sunday, the Mustangs got just what they needed – a big win.

The Mustangs dominated right from the start of the game, outshooting the visitors 16-1 in the first period. They built a 2-0 lead in the first stanza on goals by Allie Davidson and Miranda Bookman.

King’s pushed back with nine shots and a goal by Charlotte McClanahan in the second period. The problem for the Monarchs was the Mustangs pushed back even harder. They poured twenty-two shots in on Kings goaltender Hayley Packer in the middle frame alone. The nearly two dozen shots resulted in two more Morrisville goals. Allie Davidson notched her second of the game, followed by a marker from Alana McDonald giving the home team a 4-1 lead through forty minutes.

The Mustangs put three more goals past Packer in the third period. Kennedy Kirkby opened the scoring of the final frame at the 6:10 mark. Hailee Easson and Zoe Leas scored in the last half of the period to put the finishing touches on the 7-1 rout of the King’s Monarchs. Elizabeth Timby made eleven saves to pick up the win in net for Morrisville.

Notes: Morrisville outshot Kings 48-12…Morrisville was 1/3 on the power play, while Kings was 0/1…Allie Davidson (2 goals + 1 assist) and Kendal Kalinowski (3 assists) led all scorers…Hailee Easson (1 goal + 1 assist) also had a multi-point game…With the win, Morrisville’s record improves to 5-5-0 overall and remains 2-3-0 in the SUNYAC…The Mustang’s next game is on Tuesday, December 5 at home against Arcadia.
