New Jersey Devils reassign Shane Bowers to the Utica Comets

The New Jersey Devils have reassigned center Shane Bowers to the Utica Comets of the AHL the team announced on Wednesday.

Bowers was called up to New Jersey from Utica on January 9. In three games played for the Devils, he registered no points and was a +1. It was Bowers’ first recall to the National Hockey League this season.

The twenty-four-year-old Bowers was acquired by the New Jersey Devils in the offseason in a trade for defenseman Reilly Walsh. Before his recent NHL recall, he had played the entire season in the AHL for Utica. In twenty-nine games played for the Comets, he has six goals (two are shorthanded), one assist, eight PIM, sixty-two shots, and is a -5.

Bowers was a first-round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He has four games played in the National Hockey League between the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils. In his American Hockey League career, Bowers has played for the Colorado Eagles, Providence Bruins, and Utica Comets.
