New Jersey Devils recall two players from the Utica Comets

The New Jersey Devils recalled forward Justin Dowling and defenseman Daniil Misyul from the Utica Comets the team announced on Thursday.

Dowling signed a two-year contract with the Devils in the offseason after playing the previous two seasons with the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL. The thirty-three-year-old forward has played professionally since the 2010-11 season and has also played for the Abbotsford Heat and Texas Stars in his American Hockey League career.

In 30 games for the Comets this season, Dowling has registered 8 goals, 11 assists, and 12 PIM. This is his first recall to the New Jersey Devils.

Dowling has 98 games played in the National Hockey League with the Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars. In those games, he has recorded 6 goals and 12 assists.

Misyul was drafted by the Devils in the third round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The twenty-three-year-old defenseman is playing his first season in North America after playing the previous five in the KHL. In 30 games played for Utica this season, he has 3 goals, 8 assists, and 33 PIM. He is signed to an entry-level contract with New Jersey through the 2024-25 season.

This is Misyul’s first career recall to the National Hockey League.
