New Jersey Devils Trade Graeme Clarke to the Minnesota Wild

The New Jersey Devils traded the signing rights to restricted free agent forward Graeme Clarke to the Minnesota Wild on Friday. In return, New Jersey received the signing rights to restricted free agent forward Adam Beckman.

The 23-year-old Clarke was a third-round pick of the New Jersey Devils in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He has played four seasons in the AHL between the Binghamton Devils and Utica Comets and was the Comet’s leading scorer last season with 25 goals and 24 assists for 49 points in 67 games. Clarke also appeared in three games for the New Jersey Devils in 2023-24, registering no points and two PIM.

He is a native of Waconia, Minnesota. Clarke’s younger brother Brandt was the number eight overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and played most of last season for the Kings AHL affiliate in Ontario.

Adam Beckman is a 23-year-old left wing who stands 6’2″ and weighs 182 lbs., and hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The Minnesota Wild drafted him in the third round in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and he joined their AHL affiliate in Iowa in 2020-21. Beckman has played four seasons for the Iowa Wild where last season he had 19 goals, 14 assists, and 24 PIM.

Beckman has played 23 NHL games in his career, all with the Minnesota Wild. He had no goals, three assists, and 14 PIM in those games.

If Beckman does sign with New Jersey, he would have to clear waivers to be sent to Utica as he is out waiver exemptions.
