Syracuse Crunch at Bridgeport Islanders game preview

The Syracuse Crunch and Bridgeport Islanders will meet on Tuesday morning for an Eastern Conference matchup.

The Syracuse Crunch and Bridgeport Islanders will meet for the second and final time this regular season at 10:30 am on Tuesday morning.

Yes, you read that correctly – 10:30 am.

It is, however, for a good reason. The special start time is because this contest is Bridgeport’s “School Day Game”. The 10:30 am start time allows children in Bridgeport to make this game a part of their school day – with the cooperation of their school.

Regarding the game itself, it is a rematch of their October 14th game in Syracuse. That game had a festive feel to it as well as it was the home opener for the Crunch and a celebration of their thirtieth season in the AHL. Syracuse won that game 4-2.

That win in their home opener has helped propel them to 6-3-0-2 to start the season. In their last games, the Crunch are coming off of a home-in-home series split with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. After what would be considered their worst performance of the season in a 4-0 Friday night loss at home, the Crunch used that game as a wake-up call. They went down to the Mohegan Sun Arena the next night and defeated the flightless birds 6-3.

The win on Saturday night improved Syracuse’s road record to 4-1-0-1.

Since then, Syracuse has made two transactions. They have added forward Jaydon Dureau and goaltender Vinnie Purpura.

Syracuse Crunch Weekly Release – November 13, 2023

The Bridgeport Islanders have struggled this season, compiling a total of nine points and landing in the Atlantic Division cellar. A big part of those struggles is a team-wide inability to score. Despite being middle of the pack league-wide in shots, they are dead last in goals per game at 1.82.

The good news for the Islanders is their challenges in the standing have come on the road. In their rink at the Total Mortgage Arena, they have been a much different team. When at home they have a record of 3-1-1-0, including the last game they played – a 2-1 overtime victory over the Springfield Thunderbirds on Saturday night.

Here’s the tale of the tape between the Syracuse Crunch and Bridgeport Islanders. The television broadcast will be on AHLTV and the radio broadcast will be on ESPN Radio Syracuse.
