Syracuse Crunch vs Utica Comets preview

The Syracuse Crunch and Utica Comets square off for a home-in-home series on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Bitter North Division rivals the Syracuse Crunch and Utica Comets will meet this weekend for the fifth and sixth time in the season. On Saturday night the Crunch will host the Comets for their annual Tired Teddy Toss game. On Sunday afternoon it’s the Comets who have home ice as the teams will meet at the Adirondack Bank Center. Saturday night’s game starts at 7:00 p.m. and the puck drop on Sunday afternoon is at 3:00 p.m.

Each team has won two games against the other thus far this season.

The Crunch

The Syracuse Crunch has been playing outstanding hockey as of late. They have won five games in a row, and are 8-2-0-0 in their last ten games. On Friday night, they beat the best team in the AHL points-wise, the Hershey Bears 4-1. Mitchell Chaffee continued a streak of his own on Friday night as well. He has scored at least one goal in four straight games.

The Comets

The Utica Comets have not been as hot as the Crunch, but they have won two games in a row. On Friday night they beat the Bridgeport Islanders at home 4-1 and welcomed back a familiar face to their lineup. Goaltender Nico Daws made his first start of the season after recovering from hip surgery. He made thirty-one saves to pick up his first victory since last season.

The Comets are 5-4-1-0 in their last ten games.
