The Central New York college hockey playoff schedule 03-02-2024

Five Central New York hockey teams can either win a conference tournament or advance in the playoffs on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

College – Men

UCHC Championship Game

  • #12 Stevenson at #2 Utica.
  • Records: Utica (22-2-3 overall, 19-0-1 UCHC), Stevenson (21-5-1 overall, 15-4-1 UCHC).
  • Where: Adirondack Bank Center, Utica NY.
  • Time: 7:00 pm.
  • Notes: Utica is the number one seed in the tournament while Stevenson is number two. The teams met in Utica twice in the regular season on November 3 and 4. Game one ended in a 2-2 draw with Stevenson winning the shootout, and Utica won the next day 5-2. The winner of this game gets an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, while the loser would have to get in with an at-large bid.

NESCAC Tournament – Semifinals

  • Hamilton vs Tufts
  • Records: Hamilton (17-7-1 overall, 11-6-1 NESCAC). Tufts (13-9-3 overall, 9-7-2 NESCAC).
  • Where: Hartford, Connecticut.
  • Time: 4:30 pm.
  • Notes: Tufts is the third seed in the NESCAC Tournament, while Hamilton is number four. The teams met twice in the regular season. They tied 3-3 in Hamilton on January 13, while the Continentals won 3-2 in overtime on February 10 at Tufts. The winner of this game advances to the NESCAC Championship Game on Sunday against the winner of the Middlebury vs Trinity game to be played before Hamilton vs Tufts. The loser will most likely have its season ended.

College – Women

ECAC Tournament Quarterfinals

  • Brown at #5 Colgate.
  • Records: Colgate (28-6-1 overall, 18-4-0 ECAC). Brown (12-16-3 overall, 7-12-3 ECAC).
  • Where: Class of 1965 Arena, Hamiton NY.
  • Time: 2:00 pm.
  • Notes: Colgate is the number one seed in the ECAC Tournament while Brown is the eight seed. Saturday’s game is game two of the ECAC Tournament best three quarterfinals series between the teams. Colgate won game one on Friday afternoon 5-1, and if they win on Saturday will advance to the ECAC Semifinals game next Friday. If Brown wins, the winner-take-all game three will be on Sunday in Hamilton.

NESCAC Championship Game

  • #8 Hamilton College vs #7 Middlebury.
  • Records: Hamilton (15-5-6 overall, 6-5-5 NESCAC). Middlebury (15-6-4 overall, 10-3-3 NESCAC).
  • Where: Orr Rink in Amherst, MA.
  • Time: 4:00 pm.
  • Notes: Hamilton is the number four seed in the NESCAC Tournament, while Middlebury is the second seed. The teams met twice in the regular season at Middlebury on February 16 and 17, with both games going to overtime. Middlebury won game one 4-3 and game two ended in a 1-1 tie. The winner of this game gets an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, while the loser would have to get in with an at-large bid.

UCHC Championship Game

  • #11 Utica at #13 Nazareth.
  • Records: Utica (22-3-2 overall, 16-2-2 UCHC). Nazareth (21-5-1 overall, 19-0-1 UCHC).
  • Where: Rochester, NY.
  • Time: 3:00 pm.
  • Notes: Nazareth is the number one seed in the UCHC Tournament, while Utica is the two seed. The teams met twice in the regular season in Utica on January 26 and 27 with Nazareth winning both games by a one-goal margin. The winner will advance to the NCAA Tournament with an automatic bid while the loser would have to get in with an at-large bid.
  • CRUNCH FALL TO SENATORS, 2-1, IN SHOOTOUT
    SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Belleville Senators, 2-1, in a shootout tonight at CAA Arena. Despite the loss, the Crunch earned one point as they moved to 38-23-4-5 on the season. Syracuse finishes the eight-game season series against Belleville with a 1-4-1-2 record.
