Women’s hockey to host Nazareth in an NCAA first-round game

The Hamilton College Continentals will host the Nazareth University Golden Flyers in a 2024 NCAA Division III Women’s Hockey Championship first-round game at Russell Sage Rink on Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.

The game is a rematch of a 2023 NCAA first-round clash at Sage Rink that Hamilton won 3-1 en route to a national semifinal appearance. The Continentals edged Nazareth 2-1 in overtime at home this season back on Dec. 5.

Hamilton (15-6-6 overall) received one of the three at-large bids to the 11-team tournament. The Continentals advanced to the 2024 New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship final where they lost to Middlebury College. Hamilton defeated No. 1 seed Amherst College 2-1 in the conference semifinals on March 1. The Continentals are making their second NCAA championship appearance.

The Golden Flyers (22-5-1) have won 15 straight games since a 3-2 overtime loss against Williams College on Jan. 9. Nazareth earned the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) automatic bid to the NCAA championship by defeating Utica University 2-1 in the UCHC championship game on March 2. The Golden Flyers are making their third trip to the NCAA tournament.
